Darjeeling, Sept. 23: The government has finally decided to recognise Ghoom-Jorebunglow Degree College as a self-financing institute from the current academic session.

Ghoom-Jorebunglow Degree College was founded last year, but it did not receive recognition from the higher education department. Students of the college were registered under Darjeeling Government College.

M. Biswas, joint secretary of the higher education department, has notified the director of Public Instructions, stating that the government ?has no objection to the establishment of the new degree college named Ghoom Jorebunglow Degree College? with effect from the 2005-2006 academic session. But, the college will remain outside the purview of West Bengal Colleges (Payment of Salaries) Act, 1978. The college will be subject to affiliation to North Bengal University, a team of which will come here tomorrow.
