The chief minister today inaugurated Cognizant Technology Solutions’ new technocomplex in Salt Lake in the presence of the Union infotech minister.

The six-storeyed, 114,000 sq ft complex in Sector V, constructed at an investment of Rs 36 crore, is the company’s second fully-owned facility in the country after Chennai.

The company has plans to ramp up its workforce in Calcutta from 750 to 900 in the next two quarters. The recruitment drive is in line with the company’s global expansion strategy. “We will grow from an organisation of 6,500 people to around 8,000 by the end of 2003,” . Lakshmi Narayan, the chief operating officer and president of the New Jersey-headquartered company, said today.

Besides making a revenue forecast of $ 330 million for the current year, Narayan announced that by the year-end the company would be ready to kick off its business process outsourcing activity.
