For some, it’s about making new traditions. “I have started coming here religiously every year. And I love the concept that they always have a band as well as a DJ. The food is also delicious because of the choices you get and overall, it’s a great experience every year,” said Neha Dasgupta, who had her boyfriend Rajdeep Chanda for company

What is New Year’s Eve without a reunion of friends? Old friends (l-r) Sohini Bhattacharjee, Shourjya Nag and Sreejita Dey did just that as Gurgaon residents Sreejita and Shourjya flew in to the city just to usher in the new decade together with old friends. “Delhi-NCR is too cold now, so I decided to fly down to enjoy the warmth of decades-old friends and the pleasant Calcutta weather,” said Sreejita, a consultant.

“December is the main month for a lot of our events and today we have our New Year’s Eve, which completes the month’s list. A lot of people look forward to it, with many members bringing in their families who are visiting from abroad. There’s a lot of dancing and the club kitchen is all set with their delicious offerings. We are now looking forward to January, when we will have our international debate and the international evening, which is the signature event of our club,” said Subrata Kumar Basu, president, Calcutta Club.
