BJP in Sikkim alliance Waiting for Karat Advani visit Clash Left unity

BJP in Sikkim alliance

The BJP and Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad (SHRP) came together in an alliance just 12 days before the state goes to the polls.

The alliance was announced today at a news conference addressed by state BJP president H.R. Pradhan and SHRP chief A.D. Subba at Tadong. Earlier. the BJP had sought to ally with the Sikkim Democratic Front.


Waiting for Karat

The CPM is going gaga over Brinda Karat’s proposed visit to Siliguri. A sea of party flags flutter even in the posh areas of the town like Hakimpara and Aurobindopalli. Karat is expected to campaign for Moni Thapa and take part in two public rallies scheduled for April 29.

Urban development and municipal affairs minister Asok Bhattacharya will share the dais with her.


Advani visit

Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani will be reach Bagdogra airport on Wednesday morning around 10 am. After touching down, the deputy PM will fly to Balurghat in a helicopter. He will address a public rally there before boarding a flight back to Delhi in the evening.


Clash

Traffic was disrupted for nearly half-an-hour on Tuesday this morning on Tenzing Norgay Road connecting Siliguri and Darjeeling after BJP and Trinamul Congress supporters clashed with CPM cadre over control of a makeshift election office. No one was injured. Protesting against CPM “highhandedness”, the BJP and Trinamul workers put up a roadblock on the busy road.


Left unity

Left Front chairman Biman Bose said here on Tuesday the “Left Front is not a glass tumbler that will fall and break.” Reacting to the CPM-RSP rift in South Dinajpur, the CPM politburo member said: “We have resolved our differences and are now as strong as granite.” He added: “If the BJP thinks that Advani’s meeting will help them ,they are dreaming.”
