June 24: A seven-year-old girl suffered head injuries when a brick from a building under construction fell on her in Bhowanipore this morning.

Shirsha Das, a Class II student of United Missionary Girls High School, was with her father on his scooter when the accident occurred around 9.10am on Kansaripara Road.

A witness said the brick fell on a cornice, rebounded and hit her. The girl fell off the scooter on impact, he said.

Shirsha was taken to SSKM Hospital and later shifted to Health Point Nursing Home in Lansdowne.

Sanjay Agarwal, who is treating Shirsha, said: "She has a skull fracture. She is stable but we will do a second CT scan tomorrow."

Her father Ashis Das, who has a jewellery business, said the building wasn't properly covered to prevent such accidents.

The Das family lives in the Kansaripara area close to the accident spot.

Ashis was wearing a helmet but his daughter didn't have one, police said.

The family hasn't filed any police complaint till now.
