The stray dog of CK Block that had got run over by a bike after she lunged at the bikers to thwart a possible chain-snatching died on Dashami. 

The dog had attacked the bikers at around 5am on October 2, the day before outsiders overran the township for civic elections. Morning walkers said they saw the bike speed up and approach a lady, possibly to snatch her chain. But street dogs outside CK-CL Park attacked the men just in time. While the woman got away and the men toppled over, this dog got run over by the bike. The incident was reported in The Telegraph Salt Lake on October 9 in the article “Stray foils snatch bid”.

Residents of the area then tried to rescue the dog, eventually sending her to Sonarpur’s Chhaya animal sanctuary for treatment. “Here we discovered that the dog had been pregnant when she was hit by the bike. She delivered two still-born puppies a few days later and died of complications on October 22,” said Sharda Radhakrishnan, one of the founders of Chhaya.  

An animal-lover, who would feed the dog daily in CK Block, went to Chhaya to visit her the day before she died. “The dog used to be playful, but well-behaved, and would jump once to greet me whenever I went to feed them.
