New Town: Level-three neonatal intensive care units, suites overlooking terrace gardens, spacious deluxe and super-deluxe rooms with wall art and a Disney-themed kids' play area - the new wing of Bhagirathi Neotia Women and Child Care Centre (BNWCC) in Rajarhat packs in all this and more.
The nine-storey hospital spread across 90,000 sq feet opened this month. From state-of-the-art equipment to round-the-clock service and urgent care, the hospital hopes to take mother and child care several notches up.
"This is our third hospital and the second one in the women and child care sector. The first branch of BNWCC in Rawdon Street has around 100 beds. This unit has 125," said Harsh Neotia, the chairman of the hospital at the inauguration on Thursday.
The out-patient department was started two months ago. "We will offer free facilities to the underprivileged in select cases," Harsh Neotia said.
The suites, deluxe rooms and even the single rooms have comfortable couches for an attendant. Some rooms have a living area for guests and a pantry among other facilities. There are four-bed and single rooms besides luxury accommodation. The hospital also has a tastefully-designed and well-equipped nursery and labour-induction area.
Madhu Neotia, the adviser of BNWCCC, said music therapy for paediatric patients and childbirth classes by Lamaze experts are on the cards to teach pregnant women relaxation and post-natal massage techniques to help them cope better with pain.
"Through our different facilities, including adult ICUs and level-three neonatal intensive care units, we hope to provide every possible specialised service under one roof. This saves travel time for patients and their relatives," Madhu Neotia said.
The paediatric ICU is a high point of the hospital. Indrani Subramanian, the facility director, said foetal medicine and many more specialised units will be opened in the coming months.
The total staff strength of the New Town hospital is 160, including seven full-time doctors. There are visiting consultants too. A four-bed room costs Rs 2,5000 a night and a single room Rs 6,500. A suite is priced at Rs 15,000.
