The woman who had jumped off a first-floor balcony to escape a group of men narrated before a magistrate on Wednesday how she was lured to the Liluah house by her boyfriend who then demanded sexual favours, police sources said.

Three youths, including the boyfriend, have been arrested. The 20-year-old mentioned in her statement recorded before the magistrate that there was a fourth man in the room, who had tried to protect her at one point. The fourth has not yet been identified.

The arrested trio are Nantai Bose, Chhoton Das and Samir Naik, alias Bhola. Nantai was the woman's boyfriend. They will be produced in a test identification parade on March 14.

The woman, accompanied by her parents and other family members, turned up at Liluah police station on Wednesday morning.

The cops took her to a magistrate to get her statement recorded.

Victims can record their statement before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code. During trial, such a statement is given more importance than a statement recorded by a police officer.

In the afternoon, the woman told Metro that she had narrated before the magistrate whatever happened on Sunday evening, when she went to Liluah with her boyfriend.

"I knew Nantai for some time. He told me he was taking me to a friend's house. Nantai, Chhoton and I went to Liluah on a two-wheeler from our neighbourhood in Hooghly," the woman said.

When she reached the house, she said, Samir was already there. The fourth man came later.

A police officer said if the woman had spoken about the presence of a fourth man, they would speak to the witnesses to find out about him.

"We will get a copy of the statement recorded before the magistrate. We will go to the area and speak to neighbours to find out about him," the officer said.

The girl said she had reached Liluah around 4pm. About an hour later, Chhoton "demanded sexual favours" from her.

"When I refused, he flaunted a knife and threatened to slash me. The fourth man tried to take away the knife and told Chhoton not to do anything like that," she said.

According to the woman, Bhola was in the room but did not intervene. Nantai wasn't there.

Then the three men went to the room where Nantai apparently was. A while later, Nantai came to the room and asked her for sexual favours.

When she refused again, Nantai went away to join the three men.

"This time I got scared and thought they might try to assault me. I went to the first-floor balcony. I tried to jump on the boundary wall but slipped and fell off the wall," she said.

The woman fell on a mound of earth in the compound of the building. Residents on the ground floor heard a thud and came out.

The woman was lying on the ground with blood oozing out of the back of her head. She was administered four stitches.
