Actress Madhumita Chakrabarty on Friday lodged a complaint with the cyber crime cell at Lalbazar, accusing a web portal in Bangladesh of posting false news of her involvement in a sleaze racket.

In her complaint, Chakrabarty, who has acted in Bengali TV serials, alleged that the web portal had uploaded a news item that said she's been arrested from a hotel in Goa for being involved in a sleaze racket.

Around 11am, she met Supratim Sarkar, the joint commissioner (headquarters), and then went to the cyber crime cell to file the complaint.

"We are investigating the matter. Since the web portal is in Bangladesh, we may seek help of the cops in the neighbouring country," an officer of the cyber crime cell said. "We will also communicate with the web portal authorities."

The news item has been uploaded on Facebook, too.

"We will contact the authorities of the social networking site and alert them about Chakrabarty's allegation," the officer said.
