Yamaha plans product blitz for 2026, keeps focus on mid-size bikes

The company has just introduced the XSR155 and FZ-Rave motorcycles as well as electric scooters Aerox-E and EC-06. The XSR155 was launched at ₹1.50 lakh and the FZ-Rave at ₹1.17 lakh

India Yamaha Motor, which is the seventh largest two-wheeler maker in the country by volume, is aiming for a bigger slice of the the premium motorcycle market as well as electric scooters. It is a strong player in the mid-size segment with the FZ series and the MT-15 bikes. It has just introduced the XSR155 and FZ-Rave motorcycles as well as electric scooters Aerox-E and EC-06. The XSR155 was launched at 1.50 lakh and the FZ-Rave at 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

With the XSR155 and FZ-Rave, Yamaha aims to reinforce its position in the premium and deluxe motorcycle segments. The Yamaha XSR155 embodies the modern retro sport concept, blending design cues like round headlamps, non-stepped seats, and so on, with modern engineering. It is almost a throwback to the early Japanese motorcycles in India and there are slight variations in the looks with or without the small fairing. The company also announced the launch of the new FZ-Rave in its popular FZ portfolio.

IYM’s foray into India’s electric vehicle market marks an important step in its journey towards a more sustainable future. Its first model, Aerox-E, is a performance-oriented EV.

The second, the EC-06, introduces a new design aimed more at comfort. Together, the Aerox-E and EC-06 represent Yamaha’s approach to serving both performance seekers and everyday users.

Powering the XSR155 is a 155cc liquid-cooled, four-valve engine with Variable Valve Actuation that delivers 13.5kW of power and 14.2Nm of torque. Built on Yamaha’s proven Deltabox frame, it features aluminium swing arm, upside-down front forks, linked-type monocross rear suspension, and a six-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch. Additionally, the XSR155 also features dual-channel ABS and traction control to ensure safer rides.

The Yamaha FZ-Rave is also a 150cc motorcycle, but very different in styling, being more aggressive and aimed at younger riders. The FZ-Rave is powered by the 149cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, producing 9.1kW of power. The engine delivers linear acceleration, responsive performance, and fuel efficiency. The single-channel ABS and front and rear disc brakes enhance safety.

The Aerox-E Performance EV marks Yamaha’s entry into the high-performance electric scooter segment. It is powered by a 9.4kW, 48Nm electric motor for high acceleration along with dual detachable 3kWh batteries. The dual batteries are powered by high energy type cells. The Aerox-E has a certified range of 106km.

Yamaha EC-06 developed in India is powered by a 4.5kW electric motor with a 4kWh high-capacity fixed battery. It is aimed at regular daily usage. The EC-06 has a certified range of 160km.
