The trailer of Mon Maaney Na suggests a journey through pain, heartbreak to discover true love

A modern urban romance exploring contemporary relationship and dating concepts like situationships and breadcrumbing, the upcoming film Mon Maaney Na starring Ritwik Bhowmik and Hiya Chatterjee will narrate the emotional rollercoaster journey of two young people who meet in college and fall in love. Launched with much fanfare on Thursday, the trailer of the film suggests a story filled with emotions, passions, laughter, tears and also some action, promising an entertainment-packed experience for its audience.

Mon Maaney Na follows college friends Rahul (Ritwik) and Bidisha (Hiya) who appear to be trapped in the chaotic GenZ world of casual dating and love affairs, until they find themselves under the spell of an old-school romance that challenges their prior opinions on love, relationships and commitment. A colourful, larger-than-life look at modern love with all its conflicts and complexities, the romantic drama is also expected to deliver a tender, heartfelt love story about longing, loss and heartache. Composed of smartly-edited moments from its story, the trailer highlights the impact of love and heartbreak in young minds and how fundamental shifts in the lovers’ perspective on romance help them to ultimately find true love.

A first-person narration of his own story by Rahul, Mon Maaney Na traces his growth from being a flirt and a Casanova to someone who finally realises the true meaning of love. Bidisha, who also finds true love the hard way, is poles apart from Rahul in attitude and temperament, promising an ‘opposites attract’ love story with exciting possibilities. The chemistry between Ritwik and Bidisha, who play friends who fall in love with each other, is lively, spontaneous and dynamic, promising a pairing that has the potential to deliver a romantic hit.

Putting the spotlight on the romantic tension between lovers Rahul and Bidisha, the trailer also trains its gaze on the two other characters Meghla (Sweta Mishra) and Ronojoy (Soumya Mukherjee) who are respectively shown to have romantic feelings for Rahul and Bidisha. The complex emotional quadrilateral that emerges from these relationships guarantees a multi-layered romantic plot filled with all the craziness, excitement, heartaches and jealousies that come with being in love. Putting to the test the emotions of Bidisha and Rahul, the two supporting characters are also expected to play direct or indirect roles in guiding the vision of the central protagonists towards discovering their true love.

A visually appealing and emotionally resonant film, Mon Maaney Na, with its fresh pairing and a youthful love story, also attracts with a melodious romantic soundtrack filled with light-hearted, sentimental and melancholy love songs, adding emotional depth to the narrative. Directed by Rahool Mukherjee and also starring Kharaj Mukherjee, Sudipa Basu and Saswata Chatterjee, the film releases in theatres on February 13, enabling young lovebirds get into the groove on the eve of Valentine’s Day.
