Why stop at adding new models to its BRAVIA TV range when Sony can also expand its soundbar collection? Sony India has two new soundbars in India — BRAVIA Theatre Bar 6 (3.1.2 channel soundbar with a wireless subwoofer) and the BRAVIA Theatre System 6 (5.1 channel home theatre system with wireless rear speakers). The idea behind the two new products is to offer more clarity in dialogues, improved bass experience without overpowering the soundstage and offer better sound output in medium- and large-sized rooms.

The Theatre Bar 6 is the more affordable addition, coming in at 39,990 while Theatre System 6 comes for 49,990.

What makes both soundbars interesting is the way sound is projected upwards, making better use of acoustics in any room. Watching any film, dialogue appears to come from the mouths of the actors rather than a soundbar sitting below the TV. Also, the sound is immersive, especially on Theatre System 6. We heard choppers and guns in action, and it felt like an approaching helicopter was about to land on the roof, while the bullet shots had their moments. The sound doesn’t feel trapped.

Sunil Nayyar, managing director, Sony India, said: “These products offer the best of technology and innovation — offering a powerful 1000W immersive sound experience along with Dolby Atmos and wireless convenience.”

In the brief period we had with Theatre System 6, there was strong foundational bass and it shows the importance of surround speakers over virtual ones.

Nezu Daisuke, global head of home product business division, home entertainment business unit, Sony Corporation, said: “In markets like India, where powerful bass and immersive audio are deeply valued, our new BRAVIA Theatre lineup, including the System 6 and Bar 6, is specifically tuned to meet these expectations.”

BRAVIA Theatre System 6 is an all-in-one 5.1 channel 1000W sound system with a subwoofer, delivering richer and well-balanced sound. The 5.1 channel speaker offers clarity and weight to audio. BRAVIA Theatre Bar 6 is a 3.1.2 channel soundbar offering immersive surround sound and clear dialogue. It comes with a wireless subwoofer to deliver a well-balanced bass sound.

Both are compatible with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and more. Further, these are powered by Sony’s Vertical Surround Engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround to create a virtual surround effect that places sound around and above you.

Tomoya Kato, senior acoustic engineer, Sony Corporation, said: “With technologies like the Vertical Surround Engine, S-Force PRO Front Surround, and a newly developed speaker architecture, BRAVIA Theatre System 6 offers expansive, detailed and balanced sound.”

BRAVIA Theatre Bar 6 (3.1.2 channel) is already available and BRAVIA Theatre System 6 (5.1 channel) will be available July 3 onwards.
