Abhijit Guha and Sudeshna Roy’s film Aapish, which releases on June 13, revolves around two women from different worlds. One is Hashi, a cheerful and resilient househelp, played by Sudipta Chakraborty. The other is a well-educated, smart working mother (played by Sandipta Sen). Though they come from opposite ends of society, their daily struggles are surprisingly similar. The trailer portrays both women working 24x7 — at home and outside. Hashi looks after the little boy as the nanny and takes care of all the household chores, while the mother attends office meetings and manages deadlines. Yet, at the end of the day, when something goes wrong, it’s still the woman, not the husband or anyone else, who is expected to adjust, sacrifice, or simply “manage”.

Their families are supportive, but only up to a point. When Hashi’s own family is hit by a health crisis, she is forced to take time off, and her employers’ lives suddenly spin out of control. The fragile balance of their urban household breaks. But the twist is that it’s Hashi who turns out to be the stronger one. She faces life with a smile until her own husband turns abusive. But even then, she doesn’t break. In contrast, her educated employer finds herself helpless, caught in her own storm.

What makes this story powerful is the unspoken bond that begins to grow between these two women. It’s not just about class, work, or family; it’s about womanhood. The trailer shows how, despite their differences, both women share the same silent burden and how they can support each other instead of facing it alone. Through humour, pain, and small acts of courage, the trailer of Aapish reminds us that a little understanding, a little empathy, and a lot of bonding can change the story for every woman, everywhere.
