Films Division, Government of India and Nandan, West Bengal Film Centre present Film Memoirs: Directors on Celluloid, featuring documentaries made on some of the leading Indian filmmakers of all time. A Dream Takes Wings: Dadasaheb Phalke (dir: Gajanan Jagirdar; 6 pm) is a biographical piece on the father of Indian cinema. B.N. Sircar (dir: Nishith Banerjee; 6.15 pm) is a film on the patriarch of the Indian film industry and the creator of the legendary New Theatres in Calcutta. It touches upon his technical achievement in introducing the system of playback singing, besides narrating how he introduced personalities of the stature of P.C. Barua, Bimal Roy, Debaki Bose, Timir Baran, K.L. Saigal, Pankaj Mullick and Sisir Kumar Bhaduri, among many others, to films. G. Aravindan (dir: Shaji N. Karun; 6.45 pm) explores the multi-faceted personality of this filmmaker of international repute. Hrishikesh Mukherjee (dir: U.B. Mathur; 7 pm) is about this pioneer of Indian ‘middle cinema’ who reflected the changing middle-class ethos in his films. Creative Artist: Satyajit Ray (dir: B.D. Garga; 7.30 pm) shows Ray narrating the process of filmmaking.

Featuring screening of a documentary on Armenian Genocide, an exhibition of photographs, posters and paintings on the genocide, recitation of Armenian poems in English, and a performance of Armenian songs by the Armenian College school choir.
