A high court division bench on Wednesday declined to grant a prayer by former Mohun Bagan official Balaram Chowdhury seeking an order restraining the CBI from proceeding with its probe into the Junior Mirdha murder case.

Mirdha, 25, had died in a motorcycle accident on Belghoria Expressway on July 13, 2011. Mirdha’s uncle lodged an FIR alleging the death had taken place under suspicious circumstances. Chowdhury, his son and daughter-in-law were named as accused.
