Bhubaneswar, Dec. 23: Young singer from the state, Sohini Mishra, who shot to fame with Indian Idol 6 in 2012, is set to wow music-lovers with her debut music album.

The album, comprising Hindi pop songs promises to traverse music lovers to the Indipop musical genre, which has almost disappeared.

Titled Love Rainbow, the album was released in the city recently.

"The pop phenomenon is gradually fading away from the musical scenario of the country. I am a great fan of Indipop music and feel that it hones the true skills of an artist. Moreover, the pop musical genre is not much in style in our state. So, I felt an Indipop album would be something new for the music lovers here," said Mishra, who is trained in Hindustani classical music.

Set to Western beats and accompanied by romantic tunes, the album has eight songs - Nazar Tujhse Jo Mili, Mausam Suhana Hai, Nila Nila Ye Asman, Jawani Jawani, Aie Mere Dil Ki Tanhayee, Sainyaan Gaye Jo Pardes, O Ore Chanda and Chhun Lene Do Asman Ko.

While Mohan Majithia has penned the songs, musician Om Prakash Mohanty has set the tunes. "The musical pieces are quite peppy and I have tried my best to do justice to the compositions," said the singer.

Sohini aims to carve a niche in the Hindi film industry through this album.

The singer, who has lent her voice to many Odia films, is hopeful that the songs would strike a chord with the youngsters. "Loves songs are evergreen and I wanted to connect to the younger generations. But, I am sure people of all groups will like the compositions," said the young vocalist, an MSc in Biotechnology from Ravenshaw University.

Speaking about her upcoming projects, Sohini said: "I have started working on two more solo albums in Odia and Bengali. They are expected to release next year."

The singer has won several awards including the Big FM 92.7 Best Singer Award, Tarang Cine Best Playback Singer Award, Governor's Award (Rajiv Gandhi Forum Award) and Chief Minister's Award. She has performed at a number of concerts across the country and abroad.
