Ranchi: Dhanbad-based actor Chandra Sekhar Dutta is all set to feature in an upcoming Bollywood movie based on the life of youngest Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan.

Directed by Amjad Khan, the biopic titled Gul Makai, is likely to release later this year. The teaser was released on Malala's birthday on July 12.

Talking about his role in the film Dutta said, "I am portraying the role of a 65-year old well-educated man named Muslim Khan, who turns into a fundamentalist and opposes the conventional education system, particularly educating women."

While television actress Reem Shaikh essays the role of Malala, other actors in the film include (late) Om Puri, Atul Kulkarni and Divya Dutta.

The film has been shot mainly at a village near Pahalgam in Kashmir and Bhuj in Gujarat.

According to Dutta, the film aims to capture Malala's spirit, her fight and also the reality and suffering of the people of Pakistan. "The film shows Malala's life right from her initial days in Swat Valley, Pakistan, to winning the Nobel Prize," he added.

On how he managed to essay the role of a 65-year-old man, 34-year-old Dutta said, "It was not a problem at all, thanks to the make-up artist. Instead I had to pick up proper pronunciation and dialogue delivery as expected from a person of that age."

Hailing from a Bengali family of Ranguni Basti, Dhanbad, Dutta did his schooling from Tata DAV School in Sijua. He later moved to Delhi and did his graduation in Hindi. He later pursued a diploma in acting from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, in 2008.

"I even taught acting at a private Institute in Mumbai," added Dutta who also featured in movies like Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela and Ram Gopal Verma's Rakhta Charitra 2.
