Power pill for districts

Patna: Under the project of Bihar power sector development programme, strengthening of power will be done at Bettiah, Motihari, Begusarai, Ara, Buxar, Samstipur and Biharsharif. The project is being run by Asian Development Bank. n this direction a loan agreement was signed between ADB and the state government under which ADB will provide Rs 708 crore for strengthening of power in these districts. Under the loan agreement, ADB will provide 86 per cent of the share while the state government will share 14 per cent.


Patna: On the occasion of “World Elder Abuse Awareness Day”, Help Age India- a charity organisation working for the aged, released its nationwide report on “Elder Abuse & Crime in India” at Patna office on Wednesday.


Patna: A large number of students staged a dharna on Wednesday at JP Golambar against police atrocities upon students who had gone to stage a protest against CBSE officials after there were reports of alleged anomalies in marking of the papers. On Tuesday, several students and guardians ransacked the Patna region office of the CBSE. The dharna was led by Bihar Players Association president Mritunjay Tiwari.

Animal health

Patna: The State Government has decided to hold “Animal Health Pakwara” from June 20 to June 30 where veterinary doctors will visit various places mainly in rural areas creating awareness about the various animal diseases common during the rainy season.


Chhapra: General secretary of Chhapra Bar Association Ravi Ranjan Singh in a news release has threatened agitation if the due amount of two percent from 1999 of advocates’ welfare fund is not paid to the association within 15 days.

Report delay

Chhapra: District magistrate (DM) Vinay Kunar has taken strong exception to delay by JP University officials in submitting report regarding the dubious role of principal of Ganga Singh College. He said he will send a reminder to the controller of examination and if they do not reply within a week, he would lodge an FIR.
