Eyeing the new iPhones? You need to wait only until a day before Dussehra to flaunt the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus unveiled on Tuesday night.

Apple retailers in Patna have received a communiqué from the company stating that the two models will go on sale from the midnight of September 29. Dussehra is on September 30.

But be prepared to pay a steep price. The iPhone 8 will retail at Rs 64,000 for the 64GB version, while the 256GB variant will be priced around Rs 77,000. The 64GB iPhone 8 Plus will come for Rs 73,000, while the 256GB model will set you back by Rs 86,000.

The iPhone X, the big-bang release on Tuesday night at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple's new campus in Cupertino, California, will go on sale on November 3. The 64GB version of the X, the priciest and most eagerly awaited iPhone till date, would cost Rs 89,000. The price of the top-of-the-line 256GB version is expected to be around Rs 1.02 lakh.

Aditya Vision, an Apple retailer at Income Tax roundabout, has begun accepting pre-booking of the 8 and 8 Plus models.

'The new variant of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will be available by September 29,' said Mohammed Ali, a salesman at the store. 'We have started taking pre-booking of the new models. Customers have to pay Rs 10,000 for booking the handset. Customers who pre-book with us will start getting the new handsets from the midnight of September 29.'

Till Thursday evening, the store had received pre-bookings from eight persons.

Some other retailers are being cautious given past experience. Krishna Communication, an Apple retailer on Boring Road, is accepting pre-booking for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models on payment of Rs 5,000, but will start delivering the new phones to its customers from October 6.

'Last time, Apple launched iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in September but in Patna they were available from October,' said Abhimanyu Singh, salesman at the store. 'So, this year we have fixed October 6 for giving the new models to our customers though they will be launched in India on September 29.'

The store has around a dozen pre-bookings.

'We have come to know from media reports that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have many new features such as wireless charging support, new glass back, etc,' said Priyanshu, a college student who had to come to enquire about the iPhone 8. 'The phone is much superior to its earlier variant.'

The most expensive iPhone till date had been the iPhone 7 Plus 256GB variant, which sold for Rs 92,000 during its launch last year.

The iPhone X has a front that is almost entirely a 5.8-inch screen except for a small notch for a selfie camera and sensors. Users only have to look at the phone to unlock it.
