New Delhi: The resounding defeat the South Africans suffered, at the hands of India A, in the warm-up match at the Palam ground, on Tuesday, has hardly dampened the spirit of the visitors.

JP Duminy, who played a fine innings of 68 runs in 32 deliveries only to find his bowlers doing a rather unimpressive job, said the team was yet to adjust fully with the conditions.

"We are pleased with the way we played... especially with the way we batted. The conditions were different, it was hot and humid, but we could still score 189.

"Yes, perhaps we could have done better in the match. But we still have three days to go and the team would be in far better shape when we play the T20 match against India at Dharamsala," said Duminy, who captained Delhi DareDevils in the IPL.

The South African bowlers did a below par job against India A, comprising young cricketers. Duminy, however, was quick to defend the bowlers and said they would do better in the matches to come.

"I have full confidence in the ability of our bowlers and I will back them hundred per cent. I believe they have what it takes to stop the Indian batting line-up. Today (Tuesday) was one day where it was about figuring out and assessing what will work for us in these conditions," Duminy said.

"Kyle (Abbott), (Merchant) de Lange and (Chris) Morris have bowled here earlier but it was a new experience for Kagiso (Rabada). He must have understood what works for him," Duminy, who was the star performer for the Proteas, said.

While Abbott gave away 43 runs in four overs, Rabada was no better and conceded 33 runs from the other end in four overs.

Asked whether his team were able to fine-tune all aspects of the game, Duminy said it was not possible to do so in just one T20 game. "In a T20 game, it is not possible to assess all the areas as there is very little time to do so. But we played some 30 balls each and I have played a few practice matches at this ground.
