Calcutta: Officials of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) have finally decided to do some tough talking.
Under pressure and facing the members’ wrath following Sourav Ganguly’s exclusion from the one-day squad, three senior officials have threatened to resign from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) committees.
Joint secretaries Samar Paul and Amitava Banerjee along with Sourav’s brother Snehasish Ganguly, also the CAB’s assistant secretary, have told a senior BCCI functionary about their intentions. The BCCI official, though, has asked them not to act in haste.
Paul and Snehasish are members of the BCCI’s finance and technical committees, respectively, while Banerjee is on the Vizzy Trophy committee.
The CAB officials are pressing for Sourav’s inclusion in the tri-series squad. “He can be considered as an additional member… There have been such instances in the past,” the BCCI has been told.
“The selectors’ decision has surprised us too… We are looking into the matter,” the BCCI official is reported to have told them.
