Calcutta: Alex Hales has been roped in to replace David Warner in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad, it was announced on Saturday.
The England opening batsman was bought for his base price of Rs 1crore from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP) list, informed a media release.
Hales, an attacking batsman, is the first and only England player till date to score a T20I century. He is also the top-ranked English player and the only one to feature in the top-10 list of the ICC T20I rankings.
The 31-year-old Warner, along with Steve Smith, have been barred from taking part in IPL 2018 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India after Cricket Australia (CA) handed them a one-year bans for their role in the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.
The 29-year-old Hales was part of the Mumbai Indians team in 2015 and has played in the Big Bash League (BBL), Pakistan Super League and Bangladesh Premier League.

The IPL begins on April 7. The Sunrisers' first match is on April 9, against Rajasthan Royals, in Hyderabad.
