Calcutta: St James' School defeated Tribeni Tissues Vidyapith 3-0 in a Debanjan Cup match at the Gitanjali Stadium on Wednesday. The tournament is being organised by the Debanjan Sen Foundation.

Syed Shizan Ahmed, Sanskar and Ankush Guria were the scorers. Ahmed was named Man of the Match for his fantastic performance.

Ahmed is playing his first Debanjan Cup. Having left St James' for Goethals Memorial School in Kurseong two years back, Ahmed, a student of Class XI, came back this year. He said he would try to score as many goals as possible.

The Lionel Messi, Barcelona and Argentina fan plays on the left side and on Wednesday made some good runs despite the slushy ground conditions.

In another match, played at the same venue, North Point Senior Secondary Boarding School prevailed over Julien Day School, Ganganagar 1-0. Ronit Chakraborty scored the all-important goal in the second half off a penalty. But the Man of the Match was goalkeeper Akash Adhikary, who was excellent under the bar.
