Shubho Sau, Rupashi Das excel in chess meet

All games played according to Fide rules

The Future Hope annual chess tournament was held physically, following Covid-19 protocols, on the school premises. All games were played according to Fide rules with 50 playing a total of five rounds on Sunday.

Shubho Sau and Rupashi Das reigned supreme in the senior boys’ and girls’ category respectively. Ram Singh and Sweta Gupta finished runner-up in those two categories.

“Dhanuka Dhunseri Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy supported the tournament and provided arbiter Surajit Moyra, an alumni of Future Hope, now a full-time chess coach,” Sujata Sen, CEO of Future Hope, said.

Sen also participated in the tournament and recorded a 50 per cent score.

Sayan Mukerji, who was the guest of honour, had started the chess academy more than a decade ago.

Winners: Senior boys: Shubho Sau; Senior girls: Rupashi Das; Junior girls: Tina Bhowmick; Junior boys: Sonai Das.
