Dipankar Bhattacharya struck three minutes from the final whistle today to give Salkia Friends a 1-0 victory over Mohammedan AC in a first division group A match of the Calcutta Football League.
Mridul Haldar hit SAIL?s match-winner, after they were tied 1-1 at half-time against City AC. Earlier, Samir Ghosh and Ranjit Haldar had struck for City AC and SAIL, respectively.
In other group A clashes, Subir Mondal?s 75th-minute strike took West Bengal Police past Calcutta Police, while Bata SC and Kidderpore SC finished goalless.
Ambar Roy meet
Young Bengal stopped East Calcutta CC five runs short of their total on another rain-ruined day at the Ambar Roy sub-junior cricket tournament at the Eden Gardens.
All three morning matches were washed out, while the three in the afternoon had to be shortened. There was time enough, however, for Dum Dum Sporting and Dhakuria CSS to record huge victories.
