Kolkata Thunderbolts, the city franchise of the inaugural Prime Volleyball League, was launched in the presence of the league’s CEO Joy Bhattacharjya and co-owners of the franchise, Pawan Patodia and Vineet Bhandari, here on Saturday.
Star blocker Ashwal Rai was named the Thunderbolts captain.

Bhattacharjya said: “This league is a path-breaking concept. I believe this will be an empowering idea for volleyball in the country.”
The league begins on February 5 in Hyderabad.
