East Bengal are back to losing ways as Indian Arrows defeated them by a solitary goal in Saturday’s I-League game at Kalyani. This was East Bengal’s fourth loss in nine matches.

Vikram Singh scored for the AIFF developmental side in the 58th minute. East Bengal have now slipped to sixth in the I-League standings with 11 points.

Mario Rivera made two changes in the line-up in his maiden game as head coach. Marti Crespi returned after a one-match suspension replacing Mehtab Singh, while Tondonba Naorem replaced Kassim Aidara in central midfield.

East Bengal controlled proceedings from the outset and despite having created several chances failed to find the target.

The Arrows, however, did manage to stun East Bengal by taking the lead 13 minutes into the second half when Vikram had his way. Givson Singh, receiving the ball at the edge of the box after Nikhil initiated the move from a counter-attack, squared it for Vikram, who slotted it home with a fantastic strike.

Adding salt to East Bengal's wounds, Marcos De La Espada was sent off for a reckless studs-up challenge in the stoppage time.

Real Kashmir win

In another game, Real Kashmir FC beat Aizawl FC 2-0 in Aizawl.

Real Kashmir scored their first goal early in the 16th minute through Kallum Higginbotham, while their second came from Robertson in the 82nd minute.
