Calcutta: The re-scheduling of the winter season’s opener — from Wednesday to Friday — has come in for big praise from all quarters. It is because most of fields in the day’s seven-event card are not only competitive, but are also packed with quality bloodstock. The Wednesday start was postponed when a section of trainers expressed their dissatisifaction over the condition of the track.
