Calcutta: Former captain and coach Intikhab Alam, who is a member of the three-member tribunal formed to probe the doping scandal, has denied reports coming out from Pakistan that he and the tribunal chief (Shahid Hamid) had handed over chargesheets to Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammed Asif on Saturday.

Confirming a report in The Telegraph on Sunday, that he and the tribunal chief had only handed over copies of the reports from the Malaysian laboratory, Alam said: “That’s all that we did… At no point did either Mr Hamid or I give chargesheets to the two cricketers.”

The tribunal couldn’t formally meet in Lahore on Saturday because one of the three members — Dr Waqar Ahmad — failed to arrive as his flight from Islamabad was delayed. The first full-fledged hearing will now be held on Thursday.
