Rio de Janeiro: Brazil descended into a state of national mourning after the semi-final thrashing at the hands of Germany, but now the blame game has begun, with despair turning to anger.

The agent of Neymar has launched a scathing attack on humiliated national team coach Luiz Philip Scolari, branding Big Phil a “repulsive, conceited jerk”.

The anger and despair, a fall-out of Brazil’s embarrassing 1-7 loss, is showing no signs of abating. This had been the Selecao’s heaviest defeat since their 0-6 loss to Uruguay in 1920.

Brazil descended into state of national mourning after the game, but now the blame game begins as despair turns to anger.

The press has described Tuesday night’s semi-final drubbing as the most shameful result in the country’s football history, and has prompted Wagner Riberio — agent and close friend of Neymar — to launch a six-point personal attack on Scolari, including a sarcastic list of requirements to coach Brazil.

“One — being Portugal coach and winning nothing,” he wrote.

“Two — going to Chelsea and being sacked the following day.

“Three — going to coach in Uzbekistan. Four — returning to Brazil, taking over a big team (Palmeiras) and getting them relegated to the second division.

“Five — leaving the club 56 days before the end of the Brasileirao (season) to ‘escape’ relegation.

“Six — being an old jerk, arrogant, repulsive, conceited and ridiculous.”

It is not the first time Scolari has faced heavy criticism for Brazil’s World Cup debacle and he is expected to leave his role at the end of tournament, although he refused to stand down on Wednesday.

However, it is the first time someone so close to one of his players has attacked him on such a personal level.

Neymar was absent for the semi-final mauling, recovering from a fractured vertebra. He was injured in a rough tackle during the quarter-final win over Colombia.

He will attend Saturday's third place play-off when the battered World Cup hosts take on the Netherlands.

Brazil were consigned to the ignominy of fighting out a game Dutch coach Louis van Gaal has attacked as “unfair”.

“Neymar will come here (to Brazil's World Cup base), he’s going to accompany the team to Saturday’s match,” confirmed Brazil federation spokesman Rodrigo Paiva .

Paiva announced the news at Brazil’s World Cup headquarters in Teresopolis, near Rio de Janeiro.

The Barcelona superstar’s absence and as importantly that of suspended defender and captain Thiago Silva contributed to Tuesday’s shocker at Belo Horizonte.

Scolari had earlier said Thursday's defeat was the “worst day of my life.”
