Angul: Former Test cricketer Debashish Mohanty was arrested after knocking down a pedestrian near Handapa in Angul district in Orissa on Thursday night, police said.

Mohanty was released on bail later but his car was seized, superintendent of police Asit Panigrahi said on Friday.

The mediumpacer was returning from Sambalpur on NH-42 when the mishap occurred. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to a government hospital.

There was tension in the area following the accident and few stones were hurled at the car, but Mohanty was unhurt, sources said.

Mohanty later visited the injured man in the hospital.
