Vasudeo Paranjape, the cricket coach who mentored the likes of Sunil Gavaskar (whom he gave the nickname Sunny), Dilip Vengsarkar and Rohit Sharma, passed away in Mumbai on Monday after a prolonged illness.

He was 82 and is survived by his wife, two daughters and son, former India cricketer Jatin.

Popularly known as Vasoo, he also worked with Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid at some point in their careers.
