Calcutta: India's tour of England ended on Tuesday with yet another loss.

England won the series 4-1, but centurion KL Rahul observed that India did not go down meekly and were perfectly happy with their approach.

Speaking to the official broadcasters after the match, Rahul tried to explain how tough it is to play a five-Test series in English conditions.

"Five Tests are never easy... Emotionally and physically, it's a big challenge... We had to play the ODI and T20I series before the Tests. Can't really say that the conditions were new to us... But it was the first time I was experiencing red-ball cricket in England. And to play against the likes of James Anderson and Stuart Broad, that too in their home conditions, is deadly," Rahul said.

Rahul is of the opinion that despite the series defeat, the Indians have given a good account of themselves and can "hold their heads high".

"As a young team we are happy with our approach. Our strategy and mindset were perfect, but unfortunately the results didn't go our way. Even with that, we can hold our heads high. We worked hard, and as players, we will come out much stronger after this series," the Karnataka batsman said.

Personally, Rahul admitted that it was a kind of relief having got to the three-figure mark in Tests after a long time. His last century was also against England - 199 in Chennai in December 2016.

"I am happy, because this hundred came after almost two years. The last hundred was also against England. I've had to wait... A series of fifties and a few failures have gone in between. So personally, as a batsman, yes I'm happy."

Asked if he had adjusted anything in his technique, Rahul came out firing saying that he has never had any doubts about his technique.

"There was nothing wrong with my technique. We, as individuals and as a team, never doubted ourselves. We were in a good mind-space. We were looking forward to the challenge. That is a very positive sign for us. We have learnt a lot from this series and we will only get better."
