Calcutta: With the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) International Stadium, in Ranchi, now ready, the Amitabh Choudhary-headed JSCA is awaiting green light from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host a one-day International during West Indies’ forthcoming tour of India.
The venue will also need the International Cricket Council’s okay.
One understands that BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale, Cricket Operations manager Suru Nayak and Ground & Pitches Committee chairman Venkat Sundaram will be making an inspection of the stadium as early as next week.
The stadium, which has already hosted Ranji Trophy matches (2010-11 season), is the latest of international standards in the region and has been got ready in fairly quick time. The very first excavation for foundations began on June 19, 2009 and so, work has been completed in a little over two years’ time. The entire JSCA International Stadium Complex, which houses the stadium, is expected to cost about 140 crores.
The 35000 capacity stadium has five viewing levels on the North and South Pavilions. These two pavilions includes corporate boxes, VVIP terrace, VVIP lounges, Members’ Enclosure, Donors’ Enclosure, President’s Box and BCCI Box, apart from two large dressing rooms with separate dining spaces, and boxes for commentators, ICC Match Referee/Vigilance, Match Observer, Third/Fourth Umpires.
