Harbhajan Singh had a distinguished career with Mumbai Indians in the IPL but will be up against them on Tuesday when Kolkata Knight Riders take on the five-time champions in Chennai. The veteran off spinner is looking to give off his best this time too.
“It’s been almost 3/4 years I have left Mumbai Indians. Yes I had a great career there, 10 years with them and had been a special time. That was like a family. Whatever I am today is because of Mumbai Indians, they gave me the freedom to express myself... thank you Mumbai Indians for all the support and love throughout my career,” Harbhajan said on Monday.
“Last two seasons I was with CSK and this time I am with Kolkata Knight Riders... I would like to perform the way I did with Mumbai Indians or even do better. May be this is the time to be in purple form.”
On Sunday, when he bowled the first over of the innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opener, he was bowling after 699 days. Did he feel a bit nervous?
“Yeah, did feel like playing my first game. Getting back to the ground again, it was so much of fun. I’ve done this all these years, it has been my life, it was great time. I am glad that we won as well.”
“Nothing new when I got the new ball. This has been my role for many years. There was a bit of nervousness since it was after almost two years... In the end I had to stay relaxed and bowl the way I have been doing all these years. Glad I could bowl that first over and was waiting for more... That didn’t happen but I’m sure going forward it will happen, winning all those small little moments for KKR and winning games,” he said.
