Raman Vijayan and Stanley Festus handed beleaguered coach Mridul Banerjee a welcome relief as Mohammedan Sporting overcame a fighting Food Corporation of India (FCI) 2-0 in a Super Division match on Monday.

Damani loses

Yashin Merchant thrashed local lad Brijesh Damani by 4-1 frames on the first day of the BSFI snooker selection trials at the SAI, Eastern Centre, on Monday. Yashin made a break of 138. Pankaj Advani made a break of 110 against B.V.S. Murthy in the fourth frame of his tie.
