SC East Bengal’s new coach Mario Rivera will be in charge from the January 19 match against FC Goa

SC East Bengal assistant coach Rennedy Singh, who was the interim head coach for three ISL VIII matches, left the bio-bubble in Goa and is in Calcutta at this point in time. He is expected to fly back to Goa next week but will not be inside the bubble. SC East Bengal’s new coach Mario Rivera will be in charge from the January 19 match against FC Goa.

“He requested for an advisory role, which was fine with the team management,” a source told The Telegraph. Under Rennedy, SC East Bengal drew two and lost one and the former India captain earned praise for his technical competency.

The players haven’t practised for the last few days as some of the staff of the hotel they are staying at returned positive.

Saturday’s match between ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC is likely to be played as per schedule even though both teams haven’t practised for the last few days due to multiple Covid-19 cases. However, the tie could be postponed if new cases emerge on Saturday.
