Chennai: Fast bowler Doug Bollinger feels Chennai Super Kings have the right combination of pace and spin to defend the Indian Premier League title.
“Albie Morkel has done a really good job (as a pacer). Our spinners Jackie (Shadab Jakati) and Ravichandran Ashwin have been fantastic. So I don’t think we feel that much pressure.
“We won two back-to-back IPL editions. I think we are pretty relaxed going into the fifth season and have plenty of options. We have good spinners in our ranks,” Bollinger told reporters here.
“We are having a great time. The guys have been playing cricket for six-seven months now. So we all know what to do. We just want to win on Wednesday (against Mumbai Indians in the opener),” the left-arm Australian pacer said.
Bollinger said it’s great to have fellow fast bowler Ben Hilfenhaus in the side.
“He is bowling really well for Australia. Good luck to him. It is great to have a bowler like him in your team. He was little bit injured last year. He has come back and bowled really well. He is swinging the ball well. It would be good to see how he goes,” he said.
Asked how he intends to cope up with the slow nature of the Chepauk strip, Bollinger said: “You just got to accommodate yourself to that. The way the wicket now looks it is very good for fast bowlers. A little bit of grass… Hopefully that grass will help the ball to come through quick.
“It’s just a change we have to go through. We are all good bowlers and know what to do. Hopefully, it swings for me and spins for Ashwin,” he said.
Bollinger, who suffered hamstring injury in a freak accident while playing at home with his daughter, said he has recovered fully and was looking forward to the new IPL season. “I feel really good. Good to be here in Chennai. I am feeling really good and looking forward to six weeks of IPL cricket.”
The Australian rated Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore as the toughest sides. (PTI)
