New Delhi: Mangal Singh Champai and Dola Banerjee secured second and fourth spots in men’s and women’s recurve sections, respectively, after the qualification round of 15th Asian Archery Championships in Xian, China, on Sunday.
Mangal shot 673 points in the two rounds of the 70m contest for his second place, while Arjuna awardee Jayanta Talukdar and Rahul Banerjee garnered 658 and 656 points, respectively, to finish 13th and 14th.
In women’s individual recurve, veteran Dola Banerjee’s finished fourth with 656 points, while Punya Prabha (642) and L. Bombyala Devi (639) were 11th and 13th, respectively, an Archery Association of India release said.
Jhanu Hasnda (660) was fourth in compound women, while Isai Rajendra Sanam finished eighth in men’s compound.
In team events, India were second in the compound women, third in recurve men and fourth in recurve women and compound men events. (PTI)
