Calcutta: Table tennis in the state lost an ardent lover of the sport, a former state player and a former secretary of the BTTA with the passing away on Wednesday morning of Dipak Kumar Ghosh. A bachelor, Ghosh died in a south Calcutta nursing home following a massive heart attack. He was 68.
Hailing from the famous Ghosh family of Nilkuthi, Bhowanipore, he went into the sport?s administration after his playing days and rose to become secretary of the state association. He also led an Indian team to an invitational meet in Bangladesh in 1982. He was also cricket secretary of Kalighat Club.
The BTTA will hold a condolence meeting in his memory on Saturday evening at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra.
