Liam Livingstone had a perfect evening out at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday.

He top-scored with 60, took a couple of wickets thereafter and also took a brilliant catch as Punjab Kings thrashed Chennai Super Kings by 54 runs to register their second win of this IPL.

But more than highlighting his effort with the bat and ball, the England limited-overs specialist preferred to focus more on the impressive showing by his team’s fast bowlers, who played an equally important role, particularly after the Punjab batsmen couldn’t really finish well.

“We got to a target (180 for 8) we thought was defendable, and the seamers set it up for us,” Man of the Match Livingstone said at the post-match presentation.

“We wanted to be aggressive and as exciting as we could. It was nice to get a few runs, but as I said, the seamers set it up in the Powerplay. “I’ve been swinging hard and it really was so nice to get it off the middle. But again, it was all about the seamers,” he emphasised.

About his own performance, Livingstone believes he will go into the coming games with a lot more confidence. “The first two games didn’t go my way, but it’s nice to contribute to a win. Hopefully, this (game) will bring some confidence,” he stated.

“As for bowling, it’s something I really enjoy and I keep practising. Hopefully, I’ll come more and more into the game (as a bowler).”
