Delhi Capitals were confused and nervous after Tim Seifert became the sixth member in their camp to test positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday morning.

But the Capitals’ focus was quickly back on the clash against Punjab Kings and that approach helped them deal with the virus blow, and record a thumping nine-wicket win in the evening at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

“Obviously, there was confusion in our camp because in the morning we got to know that Tim is also positive. There was confusion, nervousness,” captain Rishabh Pant said at the post-match presentation.

“There was also talk of the game getting cancelled. But we spoke as a team and decided that we must focus purely on the game.”

The Capitals’ bowlers then stood up and delivered, bundling Punjab out for a paltry 115 that laid the platform for their facile win. The in-form Kuldeep Yadav, too, was among the bowlers to worsen matters for Punjab.

“I have got plenty of confidence this season and I am also clear with my role,” Man of the Match Kuldeep said.
