Bath leading in Midnight Coup (T.Jodha-up)

Calcutta: Trainer Harvinder Singh Bath’s Beckham, re-christened, Midnight Coup, scripted his success story in the broad daylight while winning the inaugural edition of the 1,200m Calcutta Monsoon Sprint, one of the richest race of the season and the star attraction in Wednesday’s race card. Ridden by T. S. Jodha, the five-year-old was available at fancied odds of 3-1 in a field of eight. The visiting jockey, also rode a perfect race. He had the Glory Of Dancer son settled in the mid-division and was brought the horse into the contention through the shortest way home. The afternoon also witnessed apprentice B.
