
Calcutta: Unseeded Abhay Singh of Tamil Nadu won the boys' under-19 category final of the Bengal Junior Open squash tournament, upsetting top seed and local favourite Krish Kapur, at the Calcutta Racket Club, here on Tuesday.
After losing the first game 7-11, the 16-year-old Abhay came back strongly to win the next three 11-3, 12-10, 11-3. The match lasted 35 minutes. In the boys under-17 final though, top seed Yash Bhargava of Delhi did not have any trouble defeating second seed Pranay Jain of Maharashtra 11-6, 12-10, 11-7.
In the girls' under-15 final, top seed Samita Sivakumar of Tamil Nadu defeated second seed Jannia Singh Chandigarh 11-5, 12-10, 11-7.
