Samsung is encouraging youngsters to deal with real-world problems through E.D.G.E.

The company has unveiled the eighth edition of its pan-India campus programme that invites youngsters from India’s premier institutions to work on real-world problem statements

You have already heard about Solve for Tomorrow, which is one of Samsung’s important initiatives and it welcomes a culture of innovative thinking and problem-solving amongst the country’s youth. There is another important programme called Samsung E.D.G.E. The company has unveiled the eighth edition of its pan-India campus programme that invites youngsters from India’s premier institutions to work on real-world problem statements.

Students from 35 campuses, including top B-schools, engineering colleges and design schools, will participate in the event that will be held across campuses.

To be conducted over three rounds, the first round of the programme deals with ideation. The team members are expected to collaborate and construct an “executive case summary based on thorough research and analysis”.

Then, 45 shortlisted teams will proceed to the regional round, where they delve into the case study, submitting and presenting detailed solutions. The top 10 teams will be selected and mentored by Samsung leaders on their respective solutions. Finally, these 10 teams will compete in a National Round and top three teams will be announced as winners.

Last year, 2,620 teams across India participated in the programme. Out of these, team Transcendence of IIM Bangalore was declared winner for presenting an innovative approach to drive the adoption of IoT devices among consumers in India. Team Srujan from NID Bangalore emerged runner-up and Team G.U.G. from IIFT earned the third spot.
