Q I lost my Samsung A5 last week. Although it has a fingerprint lock, I fear that if it is opened somehow it might land me in trouble. Is there any way by which I can block Facebook and WhatsApp into which I was logged in?

The best option for you is to go to https://myaccount.google.com in your computer’s browser. Click on ‘Find your Phone’. Sign in with your Google account and erase everything on the phone once it is located. Also, make sure to lodge a police complaint with the IMEI number of the phone.
To log out of Facebook on the phone, head to your computer once again and go to Facebook on your browser. Go to Settings and then to Security and login. Choose your lost phone and click on the three vertical dots on the right to log out of the device. As for WhatsApp, you should call your mobile provider as soon as possible to lock your SIM card. Then use a new SIM card with the same number to activate WhatsApp on your new phone. This is the quickest way to deactivate an account on a lost phone. You could also email WhatsApp with the phrase “Lost/Stolen: Please deactivate my account” as the subject of the email. Make sure to include your phone number with the India country code (+91). Send the email to support@whatsapp.com.
A SPELL OF SILENCE
Q My Gionee P5L of 2016 make goes into silent mode automatically. I have to turn it on every time I unlock my phone.

This is usually caused by an app that you have installed. Uninstall any power saver or battery app that you may have downloaded. This should solve your problem.
TIME FOR A CHANGE
Q I am using an iPhone 4s running iOS 9.3.5. The keyboard click sound gets muted often, despite it being turned on in Settings. I reset the settings but that was not of much help.

The only probable reason could be that the Bluetooth on the phone is on and connected to a paired device such as a headphone or speaker. Try switching off Bluetooth and see if the problem persists. Anyway, the iPhone 4s came out over five years ago and it does not even support iOS 10.x leave alone the latest iOS 11.x. I think it is about time you changed your phone. If your budget permits, look at the iPhone SE.
GOODBYE, PICASSA
Q More than 550 photos are being shown as unsupported files on my Samsung Galaxy E5 and cannot be deleted. On each of these photos, there is an icon of the Picassa app.

Google retired Picassa over a year ago and introduced Google Photos. Try downloading the Google Photos app and see if you are able to delete the pictures once it is imported there from the phone’s native gallery.
