CES 2024 has showcased plenty of interesting gadgets that go beyond smartphones and televisions. Not every device will become available but they prove that cutting-edge technology is always around the corner.
Withings BeamO
Resembling some of Withings’ other contactless thermometers, this one contains photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors, electrodes, a digital stethoscope, and a second-gen version of the infrared temperature sensor in the Withings Thermo. The candybar-shaped device has a companion app to help you to use the stethoscope. And battery life should be good since the company says the BeamO will last for months at a time on a single charge. BeamO is priced at $249.95.
Pawport
One of the coolest smart home gadgets on display at CES 2024, Pawport is a motorised pet door cover that’s programmable using an accompanying smartphone app and works with a collar tag, allowing it to automatically open when your pet approaches. The door looks stylish and attaches to existing pet door frames. It also comes with a lightweight tag for your pet.

Evolve MVMT

It is an ankle wearable to track the quality of your steps and helps you improve your gait over time. The device uses a technique developed by founder and physiotherapist Luke Pickett called “light walking” to minimise heel striking.
Wehead GPT Edition
Combine an AI bot with hardware. The device sits on your desk and has four displays to mimic a real person who you can interact with and ask questions. The AI companion can offer personalised news and much more. The device was originally a spatial video device that allowed 3D video calls.

XGIMI Horizon Max 4K projector

It’s a projector that can make pictures appear bright and clear. The Horizon Max has twin light sources, Dual Light 2.0, combining a triple laser and a phosphor light, for an ultra-wide colour gamut. It has up to 3,100 ISO lumens brightness, making it 35 per cent brighter than the Horizon Ultra and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio.
Celestron Origin Intelligent Home Observatory
Celstron makes AI-based high-quality telescopes but the Celestron Origin is about user convenience. It offers RASA optics to a wide range of users, allowing you to explore the universe from the backyard. Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph f/2.2 optical system is known for its wide field of view and ultra-fast telescope technology.
RoboRock S8 MaxV Ultra
Its onboard computer powers a voice assistant, robot arm, and advanced obstacle avoidance. The mopping system now has an extra spinning mop next to the flat, vibrating mopping pad to scrub your hard floors and lift up to 20mm to avoid carpets when it’s vacuuming and mopping. Further, it supports the Matter protocol to work with any smart home ecosystem going forward.

Samsung Ballie Robot

Though we have been hearing about it for the last few years, Samsung's Ballie AI robot has received some big updates. It can project video, control your smart home devices, and even map out your smart home using LiDAR to place connected devices on SmartThings Map View. It can also answer your calls and send you a message with updates on your pets.
Abode Edge security camera
The security camera can reach your home from as far as 1.5 miles away and it uses WiFi HaLow, a new wireless transmission technology that can reach far beyond traditional Wi-Fi signals. WiFi HaLow is low-power, long-range Wi-Fi that uses the 900 Mhz band to transmit data. It has a 6,000-mAh battery, which should last up to one year on a charge.

Lockly Visage
A Matter-supporting device, the wireless Visage lock uses a pair of infrared sensors to detect and scan faces within a few feet. It can store up to 100 face profiles and it also allows users to authenticate themselves through fingerprints and Apple’s Home Key.

L’Oreal Airlight Pro
AirLight Pro can adjust to the type of hair it’s drying. Developed in collaboration with Zuvi, who are experts in drone engineering and science, it offers a blend of infrared-light technology and high-speed wind while hair drying. The tool promises more hydrated hair while consuming less energy across various hair types.

FiiO R9
Meant for audiophiles, it is being marketed as an all-in-one device that can be used for music streaming as well as a dedicated headphone amplifier. A Snapdragon 660 chip runs a six-inch HD screen on a custom build of Android. It has 64GB of onboard storage and features a range of connections including a new HDMI ARC port as well as the SD, USB, optical, coaxial and ethernet inputs. There is also single-ended 6.35mm, balanced 4.4mm, and balanced 4-pin XLR outputs.
