Nuapada, April 8: Boden police arrested two youths on Thursday for allegedly forging the signature of the district superintendent of police (SP) Rajesh Uttamrao Pandit to secure a loan from a private financial institution.
The accused Tilak Ram Sa (25) and Pankaj Sa (30), have been remanded in judicial custody. Tilakram had allegedly applied for a loan of Rs 1 lakh from a Delhi-based financial institution. He had approached the firm through an agent and Pankaj Sa had been the guarantor.
The agency had asked Tilakram to submit a character certificate from the SP of Nuapada district.
Instead of approaching the SP for the certificates, the police alleged that they prepared a fake certificate and forged the signature of the SP. The agency forwarded the certificate to the SP for verification.
It was then that the forged signature issue came to light and Pandit instructed the officer in-charge of Boden police station to register a case against the two.
Officer in-charge of Boden police station Salya Nayak said the SP had examined the certificate and found that his signature had been forged. “We have registered a case under Sections 490, 468, 471 and 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code. The two youths have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody after their bail plea was rejected today,” Nayak said.
