Bhubaneswar, Jan. 26: Youngsters across Odisha took part in various activities and conducted a series of events to celebrate Republic Day today.
The national flag was hoisted at various educational institutions, and students sang to pay their respects to the nation.
A group of youngsters hosted a face-painting event at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, where around 800 schoolchildren got their faces painted. A youth group called Being Cuttackia organised the event.
"We wanted to make it a fun-filled affair for the children, and in the process, explain to them about the importance of the day. We invited all of them to the ground and told them about Republic Day," said Sanjeet Singh, a member of Being Cuttackia.
In Bhubaneswar, a number of youngsters got themselves tattoos to celebrate the spirit of the day.
While a college student got an image of peacock, the national bird of India, another IT professional got a Tricolour painted.
"Many approached me for customised tattoos showcasing the diversity of our country," said tattoo artist Om Acharya.
The Republic Day parade also witnessed youngsters in large numbers turning up to pay homage to the nation.
Some youths visited orphanages and elderly homes and distributed chocolates, Tricolour and badges.
"We hoisted flag at an orphanage in our neighbourhood and spent some time with the kids," said Sonali Lenka, a college student.
