Bhubaneswar: A video of a couple, who were allegedly stripped naked by three youths, has gone viral on social media, sparking concern among police about the regularity of such incidents.

The incident allegedly took place at Khandagiri. The video shows the youths threatening the couple while recording the entire incident.

The police said they were yet to get a formal complaint in this connection and trying to identify the location. The video shows the girl requesting the youths in Odia not to record the incident. One of the youths is also seen touching the girl inappropriately.

The trend of sharing intimate scenes and other vulgar clips through social media has emerged as a concern for the police and citizens. Just a few days ago, intimate videos of a city-based medical student went viral. In July, an engineering student was arrested for allegedly making a sex video featuring him and his girlfriend, which also became viral. That same month, Kharavela Nagar police arrested a married man and a woman for filming their intimate encounter, which later became viral.

Deputy commissioner of police Satyabrata Bhoi advised youths to refrain from such acts.

"Youths must not capture or record intimate moments with their partners as no own knows where these videos will ultimately end up in this age of social media. Forcing others to get naked and capturing it on camera is also a criminal offence. The accused can be booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act," said Bhoi.

The police also advised victims to seek help. "As most victims feel reluctant to lodge complaints, the accused roam free. In most cases, the victims were found have consented to capturing intimate moments. They should not allow their partners to film moments that can be used to blackmail them later," said a police officer.
